Artdigiland edizioni is proud to present – in the context of Microsalon Italia 2019, organised at Cinecittà by AIC - Autori Italiani della Cinematografia – Giuseppe Pinori’s book La luce come compagna. Viaggi, incontri, miracoli di un autore della cinematografia. The presentation will take place on Saturday, 23 March at 11.30 a.m. at Cinecittà’s Teatro 1, in the presence of the author Giuseppe Pinori, Roberto Cicutto, Chairman of Cinecittà Luce, who has written the preface, the publisher Silvia Tarquini and publishing associate Caterina Sabato. The encounter will be introduced and chaired by Luciano Tovoli, as Chairman of AIC.
La luce come compagna, with its extraordinary iconographic array, thanks to Pinori’s passion for shooting photos on the set, retraces the author’s remembrances, outlining his special relationship with light. Beginning with his apprenticeship under Fernando Cerchio, he recounts his adventurous season of documentaries achieved with Piero Nelli, Ansano Giannarelli and Marina Piperno, the ‘film inquiries’ of Cesare Zavattini and Enzo Biagi, his launch into feature films with the Taviani Brothers in Sotto il segno dello Scorpione [Under the Sign of Scorpio], their first colour-film, his association with Valentino Orsini, experiences with genre films, with (amongst others) Duccio Tessari and Lucio Fulci, his constant relationship with art films, together with Maurizio Costanzo, Luigi Mangini, Samy Pavel, Nanni Moretti, Marco Tullio Giordana, Giuliano Montaldo, Roberto Faenza. The human side of the profession and of these encounters is always to the fore, as evidenced by his great empathy with Giorgio Albertazzi on his film as director, or his somewhat magical friendship with Romano Scavolini. Amongst the many faces of great actors highlighted by Pinori, we should mention, to give some measure of his career and the vastness of his experience, Mario Adorf, Tina Aumont, Fabrizio Bentivoglio, Lucia Bosè, Barbara Bouchet, Giulio Brogi, Flavio Bucci, Olga Carlatos, Piera Degli Esposti, Gabriele Ferzetti, Giuliano Gemma, Fosco Giachetti, Clio Goldsmith, Leo Gullotta, Alessandro Haber, Harvey Keitel, Philippe Leroy, Ray Lovelock, Vittorio Mezzogiorno, Enrico Montesano, Gianni Morandi, Amedeo Nazzari, Paola Pitagora, Kim Rossi Stuart, Lina Sastri, Renato Scarpa, Rosanna Schiaffino, Sylvia Sidney, Gianmaria Volonté, Milena Vukotić.
The Italian and English editions of the book have been produced with the collaboration of Istituto Luce - Cinecittà, with the support of: Cartocci - Professional Camera Support, Cartoni - Rental House, International Lightning Technology Italy srl, and Più Costruire il Futuro srl, and with the sponsorship of AIC - Associazione Italiana Autori della Fotografia Cinematografica and IMAGO - European Federation of Cinematographers.
